The world is changing. It’s an obvious statement, but not one that humans seem to take seriously. Our society has come a long way in a short time, and we should be very proud of that. But what has our ‘success’ cost us in the long run?
For years we have taken what we wanted from the land with little repercussions seen at the time. Time has a way of uncovering the truth; and the truth is that our society has stripped Mother Earth of her resources. We’ve created a downward spiral that is claiming lives, entire species, and throwing us into a new age. An age where air is too toxic for children to play outside, and water catches on fire coming out of the spout. An age where forests are dying and being torn apart; because humans need paper more than they need a heart.
Unless the human race takes giant steps to reverse the damage and seek out a different way of life; the world as we know it will no longer exist. Change isn’t going to happen unless YOU do something about it. There are so many ways to be mindful of the environment; such as recycling, using less water, and using less energy. The first step is to be conscious of your impact on the world, and to realize that even you, one person, can make a difference. Environmental awareness is not just a hippie cry, its vital for life and we need to heed it.
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” -Dr. Seuss
